Where the tax comes from

Taxable income is ₹56,37,000, which reaches the 30% slab. Every extra rupee is taxed at 31.2% including cess, while the effective rate on gross is 25.8%. Surcharge of ₹1,27,110 applies above ₹50 lakh of taxable income.

When the old regime wins

You would need at least ₹5,74,000 of old-regime deductions a year — 80C, HRA exemption, home loan interest, 80D combined — before the old regime pays more than the new. Below that, the new regime saves ₹2,73,737 a year.

Hike to the next rung

Reaching 70 LPA is a 16.7% hike and adds ₹48,106 a month in hand. Dropping to 55 LPA costs ₹24,042 a month. Check any percentage on the hike calculator.

60 LPA pays surcharge on top of the 30% slab

Taxable income of ₹56,37,000 is above ₹50 lakh, so a surcharge is added to the tax before cess, and the new regime caps it at 25%. Of the next ₹1 lakh of CTC you keep ₹57,727. The next step, where the 15% surcharge starts, comes at a CTC of about ₹1,05,83,000.

Employer NPS at 14% of basic (₹3,36,000 a year) saves ₹3,41,858 a year which is more than the contribution takes out of your pay, and monthly in hand changes by +₹488 a month.
